Statutary activity of the Institute

The Light Pollution Science and Technology Institute

a) carries out scientific and technological researches on light pollution, both experimental and theoretical. It promotes and collaborates to researches on light pollution, even with interdisciplinary character and on international scale. It carries out any other activity devoted or related to the development and promotion of the scientific research on light pollution. It can be publisher of books and reports, it can organize scientific conventions, meetings, workshops, advanced schools and it can invite foreign researchers to Italy for scientific collaborations.

b) carries out global scale monitoring of the luminous emissions in atmosphere, from Earth and/or satellites, and their effects on the night environment, and collaborates with interested organizations and agencies.

c) can carry out technical and scientific studies, reports, evaluations of environmental impact, for public and private agencies, professional companies, studies, etc, and can supply scientific and technical opinions.

d) promotes, carries out or collaborates to the Didactics and the popularization of the problem of light pollution at any level, also through booklets, audiovisual materials, press releases, Internet and by organizing conferences, seminaries, lessons, courses, conventions and public debates.

e) promotes and carries on any other activity devoted or related to the development and the popularisation of technologies and methods to limit light pollution and, more generally, to the protection of the night environment from light pollution.
